Can anyone tell me: Is it possible for the !Xfce panel in v4.8 to be made transparent?
-
I seem to remember it can, as long as you have a compositor running. Not 100% sure, though.
-
@mjjzf yes, although the panel applets don't work great with transparency, they look odd
-
@thistleweb @psquid Right, so the compositor is needed. I just came to appreciate it on Lxde. Hmmm.
-
@mjjzf xfce has been able to do the transparent panel stuff for as long as I've known it, like 4.4 ish
-
It is, but in my experience it stops being as easy to grab when you do. It's prefs>Appearance>opacity
-
@mjjzf right click on the panel and check it's properties
-
@thistleweb @silner Right, okay. I don't have it on the machine yet - just thought I would put something else on if it didn't work.
-
I agree with @thistleweb - it's not a good look
-
@silner yeah the applets not playing with transparency does make it look very tacky
-
@mjjzf I'm quite sure it is, but cannot recall it from my mind. Will have to have a look again when at home.

@mjjzf Transparency on the Xfce panel has been around for a long time.
