My suggest to @CyanogenMod team about an OpenSource Gtalk/XMPP client included in #Cyanogenmod http://ur1.ca/87b9b !android
-
There are many #fs xmpp clients out there. Why should we need another one?
-
@mvdan there should be one included. No need to write one from scratch. But I don't know any with jingle and push notification support.
-
I disagree. Cyanogen is a ROM, not a set of popular applications. I'd rather remove some apk's from their zip's.
-
IMHO, the ROM should include not the popular, but the neccesary tools, and I think an XMPP/GTalk client is basic in an Android environment
-
Which client would you include? XMPP clients are very much a matter of taste.
-
@mvdan fair enough. I just hope, a XMPP client with cm behind it would improve quickly. Until now I know no client that fits my criteria.
-
Beem works for me.
-
As far as I'm concerned, I think an XMPP client is just another app. Calculator, file manager, picture viewer... these are basic.
-
basic in an android environment are phone and sms apps, nothing more.

try gibberbot http://ur1.ca/87cdh

@fhimpe I've been using Xabber, might be worth a look maybe?
X11R5 likes this. -
Gtalk is integrated in a perfect way. It's proprietary,so we don't know how,but it's running as the OS is up,infact c2dm uses the same servic
-
So one client build-in with the OS it would be great. In addition the CyanogenMod team is a guarantee :)

Have in mind Google Apps (gmail, gtalk, daemons, google calendar, et al) are not part of Cyanogen.
