How do you get out of the cluthes of 3google if you are still using ¡android?

@satipera Didn't think about that. I went back to blackberry :/ So you don't need a google account if rooted?

@nigeldgreen it's the ultimate dilemma I went to a different platform altogether.

By default, Cyanogenmod doesn’t have any google apps. You have to add them in with another file. ;)

And your phone is still useable, you’ll just have to find apps elsewhere. (fdroid, amazon, etc…)

@lstench I have taken almost everything to do with google from the phone apart from maps. You do not need to use android market so no ..

No, because osm's OsmAnd is good enough.

@jpope I didn't realize that. when I root my epic i didn't use cyanogenmod. Think I used viper.

@satipera so you keep maps for the navagation. Does this void the warranty of the phone?

@lstench Cyanogenmod is one of the few that doesn’t include gapps by default.

@jpope this is where it'd be best to have an extra phone to fool with. Can't be having downtime & broken services on main phone.

I would love to do this, but Cyanogenmod isn't for the Galaxy S Plus yet, or any custom ROM for that matter.

I'm still poking around. I like the way it handles text files -- syntax highlighting! Key also is the WebDAV hookup. It all works thus far.
