     @eximious, #MD would've been "South" if it wasn't north of DC & Lincoln had to desperately hold it. #Balmur was major hub of slave trade.

     I assume debate centers around #KY attempting neutrality in Civil War? Like #MD, it was a slave state, though. That's really the litmus, IMO
