Glad to hear you ventured out to a good time. Maybe the house band was trying to down out you vocals?

@1111aether, I wouldn't say I'm a #Rush fan. I find Rush odd & intriguing. I was once a hobbyist drummer, too, & liking Rush is required.
-
@fontana Wait, what’s problematic about “hobbyist”?
-
@1111aether, Not quite. I also find Ayn Rand odd & intriguing. #Rush is just a musical equivalent of her philosophies. !disturbing

@bkuhn As a Canadian, I feel obliged to apologize for Rush on a regular basis. But, they aren't actually evil, they only sound that way.
-
As a Canadian bass player, I have to pay homage to Rush. Lyrics, well, Peart left the Rand influence behind relatively quickly.
-
@vanden As someone who is aware of stereotypes, I thought you felt obliged to apologize on a regular basis, without the Rush qualification.
-
@psquid Certainly. But, it really is much easier to get started when equipped with a topic.

Rush ~2112 is definitely Ayn Rand, but they've moved into their own territory since then. It's OK to like them now. :)
-
The Trees? 2112? Anthem? There's plenty of #Ayn_Rand in #Rush. It's very !disturbing & why smart teenagers like them, too.
-
"once a hobbyist drummer" - No such thing. Once a drummer, always a drummer. :)
-
@snapl,I can't even keep time right anymore. I sat in front of a kit a few years ago &sounded horrible. I'm definitely not a drummer anymore

Name one song post Moving Pictures that has an Ayn Rand theme.

@1111aether trying to get a local !RUSH tribute band to play "I think I'm going bald". Luckily they won't ask me to sing :) Freewill.net
