How do you listen to your !linux or other podcasts while driving?
-
@lstench 80 minutes a day, which happens to be exactly the amount of time it takes me to drive home from work
-
@lstench I’ve tried downloading them to phone or tablet, but you’ll have car full of kids, so better off skipping podcasts on the trip to OK
-
Well I was thinking maybe audiobooks too. Oh and Hubs chose the house in Kansas!! So all my original plans are in disarray :/
-
so do you hook your mp3 player to your car radio?
-
I have a FM transmitter that I plug my phone into. Works pretty good in my old pickup but only decently well in my wifes car.
-
And the transmitter that I have is similar to http://url.jpope.org/g2
-
That makes me right! Way back here... http://ur1.ca/8nkpw
-
@lstench No. I download them to my N810 and use the speaker on that. And sorry - I misread your original question
-
@jpope cassette adapter for me, baby! :P
-
Pick up one of those cheap FM transmitters that plug into the cigarette lighter. Actually, get a few, they're usually pretty flimsy.
-
I need some kind of adapter. The kids are enjoying the Magic Tree House at the moment but going to need to be able to p…
-
I still have a cassette adapter in the garage in case I ever need it. ;)
-
Yep you were esp. with summer around the corner.
-
@jpope much more reliable than fm transmission if you have cassette player in the car.
-
Do you think I could just use my computer speakers
-
@pete wouldn't it degrade the audio quality? I heard FM radio is only as good as 96kbps mp3 at best
-
Definitely, but if you're listening to a spoken podcast it doesn't really matter too much. Music's a little tinny though.
-
Podcasts on !Android phone (currently using Google Listen, looking for alternatives) → streamed to Bluetooth hands-free → FM stereo
-
@samatjain Not free but Doggcatcher is very good. Check out http://www.doggcatcher.com. I think it should be possibe to do what you want.
-
What stereo is this?
-
Normal (i.e. piece of crap) BMW stereo from 1999. Bluetooth hands-free is the special bit, can rebroadcast as FM which the stereo picks up
