Actually happy that a somewhat known/respected site confirms !GNOME Shell is bad. Will devs finally start listening? http://is.gd/7sldik

Devs shouldn't care. They aren't doing it for their users. They're just kind enough to make it available to users under a Free license.
-
Free Software/Open Source Software is primarily about scratching a personal itch -- people do it because *they* want to.
-
@fhimpe i just prefer unity. these http://is.gd/AOMcjN questions seem more relevant imho.
-
@fhimpe The site you respect is the site others may say it's bad. I don't need them to tell me.
-
@patrickniedzielski Right, Red Hat is paying all those gnome developers purely for their own pleasure, not to attract users/buyers.
-
This article sounds so Q1.2011. Tweak, extensions and themes chang the deal. Gnome3.4 in sight, easy peasy.
-
I love Gnome 3. I use Fedora because it's got Gnome Shell. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Basically, yes. They're just kind enough to make it available to users under a Free license, so I on Debian can use it too.
-
If they didn't want to contribute to upstream or sell RedHat with GNOME, they have other, better ways to " attract users/buyers".
-
Furthermore, developers aren't doing it for the users. They are doing it because they are paid to.

I'm a very happy GNOME 3 / Fedora user. Only tracker makes me grumpy.
