has anyone had luck using unicode (specifically french accents) in !linux cli apps (re-alpine, irssi, etc)? I just get "?" or \#### :(
-
@darwinsurvivor, just use #urxvt as #terminal, fonts like #Terminus, #Monospace or #Liberation-Mono and set #unicode in #irssi - easy way :)

@darwinsurvivor Unfortunately the terminal world is very ascii-centric. #americafuckyeah

@darwinsurvivor Depends on the terminal emulator (or the font). #guake (Monospace) can handle it but urxvt (Terminus) couldn't

@darwinsurvivor If you are trying to do it from the system console you are asking for trouble, but it is quite easy using a terminal emu

I always run my irssi in screen -U, seems to work for me ;]

I've set up UTF-8 locales in `dpkg-reconfigure locales` and Polish characters work well... so French should, too. !debian
