I don't like #gstreamer #phonon backend in !Amarok, it sounds like a scratched disc, I miss #Xine in my !openSUSE !Linux, it worked great
about a year ago from Choqok- Ricardo Chung repeated this.
-
@alpvonkri have you tried the vlc backend ? It works pretty good here.
-
@llelectronics Yes, but seems like with the new !VLC update, it doesn't work
-
@alpvonkri That might be a openSUSE issue than. Because here on Neptune (Debian Testing based) it works fine with backend 0.5.0 and vlc2.0.1
-
@llelectronics Not exactly, it doesn't work because it's still not up to date, just have to wait. ^_^
-
@alpvonkri I think xine used to have better features span. Sadly, phonon-backend-Xine is deprecated for KDE 4.8.x :-(
-
@neildarlow Yes it sounded good, unfortunately, it's not up to date yet.
-
@neildarlow @alpvonkri Phonon-backend-vlc is working much better than gstreamer option. It includes features closer to the old xine opt.
-
@alpvonkri what do you mean by "not up to date"? packman repo or vlc repo? Both running on my sides
-
@amon0thoth1 VLC 2.0.1 from Packman, but phonon-backend-vlc packman version is 0.4.1 and it gives a requirement warning and ask to downgrade
Ricardo Chung likes this. -
@amon0thoth1 true, I settled for the #VLC backend after ditching Xine and trying #GStreamer
-
@alpvonkri Using VLC vers.:1.1.13 with Phonon-backend-vlc vers.: 0.3.2-1.2 from Packman. No complaints in Amarok either.
