The "after enough distro search, you'll choose !arch" quote haunts me. Cause I thought I wouldn't go for arch, but it turns out I just did.
- dno repeated this.

@mvdan Arch is awesome. Not my primary distro but I really like it. I usually run it on weekends. :)
-
arch was too arcane for me, but i’m finding crunchbang with unstable/sid debian repos works well for me.
-
I noted this a few days ago: http://micro.jpope.org/notice/223650 I’ve pretty well stopped distro hopping. ;)

@mvdan hmm well you can still keep it updated easily with Packer or some other aur manager.
-
Are there package managers for the #aur? Nice.
-
Hah, right :) Though once I get rid of this bloody intel wireless I'll switch repos to #parabola's.
-
@mvdan yaourt
-
@mvdan yep there are several. I use packer. It really eases the use of aur.
-
Packer seems to be the better choice.

I didn't try it, but it seems a good choice. Anyway I've never had a problem with yaourt.
-
I use Packer as well. Feels more like Pacman, which is a plus I guess.
-
Yaourt is also nice, but 'packer' is easier to type.
-
If you use DVORAK, yaourt is easier. :)
-
@algoban @speeddefrost I read where packer is a rewrite of yaourt in order to make it faster and closer to pacman. All I need to know :-)
-
@mvdan I can't really comment on yaourt b/c I haven't used it, but I know packer works great & has same syntax as pacman.
-
Good point actually. Although in the end they'd both get the job done equally well.
-
@mvdan Well, on two of my machines I need the evil nvidia so I’ll just stick with arch.
-
But who does? ;-)
-
Yaourt does has a few extra features in comparison (aur comments, file listing, namcap) - but packer is simpler (and asks less questions).
-
Do I have to answer that question?
-
I think Chuck Norris tried, but he just need to kick the keyboard one time to write "Don quijote"
-
:/ nouveau works perfectly for me, though I don't use 3D.
-
You ask me that question?
-
@mvdan packer is pretty much seemless with pacman, personally I don’t use a pkg manager for AUR, just download the ta…

I've been enjoying #Arch/Parabola all year, found a cheap wireless adapter through hnode. I heard of cower for aur first. no updates yet
-
Seemless doesn't exist, or does it?
-
That's what I did up until yesterday. Works just as well if you issue makepkg with the '-s' option :-)
-
I'll be getting a laptop later this year, so the wireless adapter won't be necessary. But yes, h-node is brilliant.
