New version of StatusNet for !MeeGo now available, with support for following links and sending utf-8 messages: http://bit.ly/K8FzpJ
- Jure Repinc (JLP) and reality like this.
- reality repeated this.
-
This version is now in the Apps for MeeGo testing repositories: http://bit.ly/IaXMoe
-
Great, thank you! !meego deserves a good statusnet client.
-
If you get a chance it'd be great if you could fill out the community QA form for the new version; it seems to be difficult to find 6 ..
-
.. people who use Apps for MeeGo and StatusNet and who are willing to do QA
-
@mikesheldon sure i will. (statusnet isn't mainstream enough to find testers, probably.)
-
I promise I'll check it out later today! I've got Apps for MeeGo setup so shouldn't be too hard :-)
-
I've never submitted anything to Apps for MeeGo myself since I realised I'd have to learn how to use OBS first... :-P
-
Heh, OBS is quite nice once you get the hang of it and from there the Apps for MeeGo submission process is pretty painless (as long as ..
-
.. you don't depend on stuff outside of the Nokia repositories...)
-
I guess I should really take some time one day and learn it. I've submitted an app to Ovi, but I'd love to support the community store.
-
@mikesheldon haven't you made an install repo yet? Or do we still need to manually download the .debs?
-
You can install it through Apps for MeeGo if you enable the testing repositories.
-
OK, I just tested it and reviewed it favourably. Works very nicely! Only complaint is same as commenter: initial choice confusing.
-
Great, thanks. I'd welcome suggestions as to how people think that configuration screen can be made clearer.
-
Problem is that it presents choices: identi.ca or OAuth if I remember correctly. But I've got my own StatusNet instance which isn't either:)
-
One alternative would be: "identi.ca" or "other StatusNet" as first step. Then have OAuth in second level selection.
-
@sazius wish I could see context for this thread
-
Is OAuth identi.ca only btw? I didn't test it since I don't have OAuth on my instance.
-
Ah, that's not how I intended it to be read. The top one selects the service (defaults to Identi.ca), then the bottom one logs in.
-
I added a "Service:" label to try and clear that up a bit in the last release, but I guess it didn't help.
-
I guess I'll add some more labels and try and give clearer descriptions of everything for the next release.
-
We are discussing @mikesheldon 's StatusNet client for Nokia N9 (MeeGo). Context got a bit split up: http://ur1.ca/93xz2 http://ur1.ca/93xz3
-
OAuth is effectively identi.ca only due to StatusNet using consumer keys (I can't register a key for every statusnet install on the planet)
-
Ah, OK. Makes sense now. I read it as two options to choose from :-) Well, it's not a big deal anyway. I managed to pick the right one :-)
-
The way it currently works is if you click the top button it gives you a choice between Identi.ca and a custom service. If you select a ..
-
.. custom service it then gives you boxes to fill in for api URL, username and password and the OAuth button changes to say "Login".
-
I'll try and make this much clearer for the next release :)
-
Yeah, it makes sense now. But I saw it as first a choice between two things, and then another "level" in the "menu" :-)
-
My confusion was: I didn't understand that the button hides a choice.
-
@sazius thanks!
