Looking for a new laptop... maybe an ultrabook? any recomendation? !linux !kde
-
i've been ++happy with my thinkbook. great quality, great performance, light .. maybe not the sexiest looking, but great workhorse.
-
@aseigo thinkbook? non-thinkpad lenovo?
-
@afiestas: I'm very satisfied with my Lenovo Thinkpad - I had it with me in Darmstadt
-
@gerlos I've had the complete opposite results. Nvidia works great. AMD/ATI not so much with 3D drivers.
-
@gerlos ...The opposite generally. But Nvidia Optimus is problematic. Free AMD are drivers are OK if features/performance isn't important.

Laptop: http://ur1.ca/956h2 , kind of like an Ultrabook: http://ur1.ca/956h3 (Disclaimer: Hired to design their site.)

I can recommend you an ASUS Zenbook. Works with Linux like a charm (after some manual fiddling). See http://ur1.ca/95hj5

@freeminded Exactly what I don't want to do :/ even though I will buy one once the model A is released (1080 screen)
-
I had to invest 2-3 hours to install and configure Kubuntu proberly. That was OK with me. If you find better, I' interested.
-
@freeminded Any thinkpad would do, toshipa ultrabook too
-
@freeminded Damn you! you made me want a zenbook again aaaah I have to wait until UX31A is released... xD
-
to make you want it a bit less... Keyboard kind of sucks and I haven't found a way to reduced accidental mouse clicks while typing.
