@dennisgut To be honest, there's not much wroing with Skype, except for it being proprietary; it actually works very well on linux

@dennisgut Obviously it would be a lot better if it were open, but the real problem Linux has with skype is almost everyone uses it

@dennisgut Mumble seems very good, but prior to that (and Google Hangouts) Linux had no real answer to IP conference calls

There is just too much wrong with sykpe, imo the whole software is a security issue.

i dont understand this argument "the real problem Linux has with microsoft is almost everyone uses it", so we should use windows?

If we support FOSS VoIP software, then the development with the alternatives can be faster.

@dennisgut Of course there are other problems, but the near monopoly is the major one we have to tackle, albeit indirectly

@dennisgut I haven't tried Sipwitch, but last time I used Ekiga it didn't play very well with firewalls, proxies etc
