Tried GIMP single-window mode. Switched back after 10 seconds. Much better to leave document windows to a real window manager like KWin !kde
- Jure Repinc (JLP), Cyber Killer and tom Austin like this.
- Ricardo Chung repeated this.
-
Yes, i ever group the tools windows and never miss the single-window
-
@ivancukic I personally like the single window mode, but I'm glad they kept both interfaces :)
Ever Gabriel Fretes likes this. -
@losinggeneration Agreed - choice is good :)

multi-window gimp is essentially unusable for me unless it has a virtual desktop to itself. (sync of doc and tool windows)
-
@aseigo same here - and some windows (like the tool view) don't even appear in the task bar.. any simple way to fix that with kwin?
-
@aseigo !kde I have a graphics-dedicated VD (inkscape+gimp). SDI breaks tasks applet previews, present win effect http://tinyurl.com/7epxljw
-
here they do, but should be possible with a window rule change their window type to be normal windows
-
@notmart Well going to special window settings and forcing 'normal window' doesn't do anything, neither do skip taskbar, switcher and pager
-
@notmart Here's a screenshot, I feel like I should post a bug report or something: http://ur1.ca/98z5q
-
@gregopet They show up in the Window List Plasmoid. Pretty much the only way I can use GIMP.
-
@happy5214 Huh, you're right, great tip, thanks! They don't appear in either task manager, smooth tasks or icons only task manager, however
-
@ivancukic how does tabbing fix the issue of having toolbars I mean tool windows hidden by other apps, gimp itself, and the focusing issues?
-
@ralesk I don't put other windows on top of it :) As I said, I have a VD dedicated to graphics programs.
