@identicats By sending a poll to groups I belong to, you force me to leave the groups. #FAIL

@laurelrusswurm Is blocking still broken? You should be able to block irritating people, even in groups.

♻ @laurelrusswurm @identicats By sending a poll to groups I belong to, you force me to leave the groups. #FAIL
-
@lnxwalt280 I didn't know that would work; still, blocking a person is an extreme response when all I want to do is block Polls
-
@laurelrusswurm That is true. I wonder whether any !feds are working on a plugin to block certain types of post (e.g polls) from stream?
-
I've disabled all of the new post types, so I don't really see any of those... maybe nobody I'm subscribed to uses those.
-
@windigo Will this prevent polls in groups from showing up? @laurelrusswurm are you able to disable polls in your account settings?
-
I'm not sure - but I don't see any, so it may.
-
I disabled them on my instance, not in any preferences - I think that might prevent them from showing up.
-
@lnxwalt280 I just checked, and polls still can't be turned off in !identica
-
@laurelrusswurm no but you can filter the words "voted for" and that gets rid of responses
-
@laurelrusswurm @lnxwalt280 they can't; that's why I left every group I could, I now don't see poll spam
-
@kevie except "voted for" is done in the users language so you have to filer that term in every language to have a chance at working
-
@thistleweb OK, but it has worked for me, maybe I don't subscribe to people who dent in languages other than English
-
that'd be great, @kevie but how? where is "filter" hidden?
-
@kevie mostly neither do I, but it spams you with responses to polls from strangers you never knew, who are members of the same group
-
@laurelrusswurm from the web I'm not sure, but most of the clients have it
-
@thistleweb probably the reason I've left a bunch of groups (including the Linux one)
-
@kevie one day I'll have time to think about becoming a fed
-
I had no idea that wasn't fixed yet. I'll have to refrain from voting till it is, or I forget (remind me)
-
Do you know if !identicurse has poll, or vote result, blocking
-
@laurelrusswurm disabling post types is only about what types of content your fed site members can post, it's not really a filter
-
@laurelrusswurm well, if you merge with Identica anyway, you'll still get polls etc from there
-
@laurelrusswurm all it means that as a fed with that disabled, YOU can't post polls
-
@kevie it IS the single reason I left every group I could, seems you can't leave the ones you create
-
@silner You can mute conversations with /mute [conversation number], so you could block individual polls
-
@silner Or, you could use filters to block text like 'x has answered poll'
-
Yes. Proper Identi.ca clients allow filters.
-
@gomerx You still using The One True Client, by the way? I just see 'ostatus' here :P
-
@laurelrusswurm I would build you a site to spec. Just let me know.
laurelrusswurm likes this. -
Yes. I am only on the IdentiCurse. I use the web client occasionally at work, though.
-
I've offered to help her several times, she isn't too interested. I'd be glad to provide a server though :)
-
@reality Thanks. Filter seems the best idea. I tend to get dragged into polls. So not seeing them would be best
-
@thistleweb I believe if/when we move to using the AtomPub API instead of Twitter-compatible (as I would like to in the long run), ..
-
@thistleweb .. those should be sent as different activity types.
-
@thistleweb Which would then mean IdentiCurse could have an option stating which types of activities you never want to see. :)
