How do you get offlineimap and gnus to work togheter. As far as I know !gnus maildir support is pretty flawed...
-
@jasonriedy I just replace #screen by #tmux. Also, I run a local #dovecot imap server, which I access directly from #gnus.
-
@jasonriedy you forgot !bitlbee
-
♺ @jasonriedy: !emacs + !gnus + !offlineimap + #screen + #ssh == best communication chain ever.
-
@navigium #offlineimap and !gnus communicate through a local #dovecot imap server
-
Ah, that seems to be the only solution out there. It's a pity. I don't like the idea of running a IMAP server just to access a mail folder.
-
@navigium if you're concerned about memory usage, #offlineimap is the one you should be worried about. #Dovecot is hardly noticable. YMMV
-
But offlineimap doesn't have to run as a deamon. It can be run from time to time...
-
I run a local dovecot (see also @luishenrix ). Off-loads the mail handling efficiently.

I can't quite pick IRC back up again. Once upon a time, my favorite client was telnet, so perhaps I make it too difficult. ;)

@jasonriedy perhaps. However, bitlbee + irc brings all chat into one. One universal client. I need to learn gnus for all-in-one news

@unhammer @jasonriedy I think I'll stay with direct imap access to the mail server from !gnus for the moment.

@unhammer thanks for the tips.
