Dear !lazyweb: Why do I so often get the error that #arch !linux can't download the core.db with pacman -Sy? I don't use it regularly.
-
@bones0 it sounds like you need to select a more responsive mirror in your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist file
-
Oh, I've tried quite many mirrors. And different internet connections. Different computers and network cards. It didn't help :-(
-
But I don't want to do arch bashing... Ubuntu apt-get just now destroyed everything at my mail- and webhost and debian did that in the past.
-
@bones0 http://mirrors.us.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch has been working quite well for me. as the first mirror to check

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I needed a replacement for the webserver I just destroyed and I am better with debian than arch !linux.
-
It means I had to reinstall the only box available - and that was the only arch linux I have right now (other one died from broken Harddisk)
