"Unlicense yourself: Set your code free" http://unlicense.org/ What do people think of this?
about a year ago from web- Olivier Berger repeated this.
-
@unhosted 1. They lost me on the 2nd paragraph, lack of respect for existing licensing efforts is very offputting.
-
@unhosted 2. I understand this kind of statement intended to release software into the public domain is legally questionable.
-
@unhosted If you ARE doing something like this, I think it IS what CC0 os for, despite it not being specifically target at software.
-
@unhosted 3. Finally it completely ignores patent issues.
-
@kevingranade ignoring not as bad as CC0's explicit non-grant. :-/ see http://gondwanaland.com/mlog/2012/02/25/permissions/
-
@mlinksva true, but I don't think the "Unlicense" is even particularly effective at it's primary goal of removing ©.
-
@unhosted ...and the kind of sorry state of art of PD dedications for sw, again: http://gondwanaland.com/mlog/2012/02/25/permissions/ ...
-
@unhosted ...of course it's possible I'm just engaging in a different brand of FUD. :-/
-
@kevingranade could be better, but I wouldn't bet against effectiveness. Ppl say same wrt CC0's effectiveness. All FUD or near-so IMO.
