      Go with both! At each login you can choose either lxde or xfce!

      If you have that, either of them will certainly work. They're made with much lighter systems in mind.

      So both will work. You can even give GNOME or KDE a go. I think with 2 GB of ram you can try any desktop (but maybe with less effects)
