downside of knowing there's no God or afterlife, is knowing brutal mass murdering dictators will get away with their crimes #Hitler #Stallin
about 9 months ago from heybuddy-
@thistleweb Amen to that, some people deserve more than hell.
-
@thistleweb You don't "know" there's no afterlife. Just like we Christians don't know there is one.
-
@lstench at least the faithful can believe they get their time in hell, the rest of us know they got away without punishment
-
@lnxwalt280 I don't know theres no flying spaghetti monster either but given the lack of evidence, I have faith that there's not
-
@thistleweb Ouch, double ouch.
-
@lnxwalt280 do you not struggle with any of this. I am not saying your beliefs change mine don't but I do struggle
-
@lstench If you don't struggle or question, you're not thinking. On either side of the theist/atheist debate.
-
@lstench ... but there have been too many "coincidental" events happening at the right time for me to be able to write them off as random.
-
@lnxwalt280 I believe it's due to divine intervention but I have had folk call me superstitous due to my icons, novena like prayers etc.
-
@lnxwalt280 Whew!! Thought I was a weirdo.
-
And just what do you find coincidental? You do realize we are only the way we are because the universe happened to be the way it is, right?
-
@lnxwalt280 They're not random. Had the universe been different, so would we. Had the sun been hotter, we'd have thicker/thinner skin, etc.
-
@jacobwb Events and personal experiences.
-
@jacobwb Yes, and if we got enough magic stardust falling into shallow tropic waters, maybe we'd observe life springing up.
-
That sounds like something more likely to appear in a Bible story than in a scientific theory. BTW, evolution *is* observable: is.gd/9FKcK0
-
@jacobwb Who's talking about evolution?
-
@lnxwalt280 Not me. Nope. Not at all. #evolution
-
@reality I'd rather talk about #thunderbird or #clawsmail than #evolution.
-
@lnxwalt280 How about Alpine? Sure it ignores RFCs and generally fucks shit up but damn does it email.
-
@lnxwalt280 Your allusion to the origins of life ur1.ca/9yiri and comment about "coincidentally random" events are cliché creationist points
-
Haha, very funny. I actually quite like Evolution, it's not bloated like Thunderbird nor ugly like Claws Mail, and it integrates with GNOME.
-
@jacobwb Yeah, Evolution was fantastic around 2004-2006. Seems to have stagnated ever since.
