@darwinsurvivor from experience Intel has the best driver support on linux ootb, nvidia has lots of bugs and there esp with 2D rendering
-
@bigbrovar did jaunty (the version they are using) have a ton a problems with intel graphics cards?
-
@darwinsurvivor because intel & ati are cheaper and a bit more open source friendly? (maybe)
-
@darwinsurvivor i'd say that ati and intel have the best free driver support, therefore are recommended options overall
-
@darwinsurvivor I think u can customise your comp and select nvidia graphic card when u purchase dell computer from it's website.
-
@darwinsurvivor I never recommend nvidia in dell laptop. I had problem in dell l'top due to nvidia and replaced gpu and motherbord twice.
-
@darwinsurvivor Dell=$$ ATi not as bad as Intel graphics for Linux. I'll take the former over latter if I had to take lesser of two evils.
-
@darwinsurvivor yep it did .. i wont say torns.. have some problems wh i easily solved by added some parameters to xorg (cont)
-
@darwinsurvivor (cont) but jaunty is the exception not the rule from time intel card have always run like liquid on linux
