getting used to 1920x1080 on the living room computer - the old 4:3 17" monitor died with a pop a few days ago; replaced it with a 16:9 23".

upgraded the laptop to a 4gb sdhc card. rsync'd 2gb card's files over (better way?), rebuilt emacs, everything seems to be running smoothly.
