@dachte To say it again, one solution to abuse of fans at sports games is to change the nickname. That might not be ideal. But so what?

@dachte As long as UND uses its name where the NCAA isn't connected, there is no problem. After all, why would they care?

@dachte In no way does verbal abuse of fans at sporting events in any way resemble your standard of PC. Can we abandon the PC straw man now?

@dachte Some fans (mostly opposing fans) have created, from time to time, a horrible atmosphere for the Native American fans.

@dachte One other thing. A complaint about the nickname was that it led to problems for Native American fans at UND sporting events.

@dachte There is no "suddenly" here. The NCAA and UND talked about this for years. Many other schools changed nicknames long ago.

@dachte The NCAA was maybe willing to make a deal along the lines of UND not using the nickname for sporting-related stuff. UND refused.
