Microsoft has some nerve to call linux a cancer and then to sponsor linux expos which further spread that "cancer" what a piece of shit

Monday, 28-Jun-10 16:20:48 UTC from twidroid in context
  2. eeefak eeefak David "Lefty" Schlesinger

@lefty I don't think rms is taken too seriously these days. After his remarks started flying about miguel I lost all hope in rms & fsf.

That hurts. Fuck you euro cocks

Saturday, 26-Jun-10 21:01:27 UTC from twidroid at Easton, Pennsylvania, United States in context Repeat of patdavila
  4. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn , Richard Fontana

RT @fontana: @bkuhn I think many who use "open source" and care about principles assume transparency is the core value, rather than freedom

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 23:53:06 UTC from Spaz
  5. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva I can build darwin as I see fit and run as I would like regardless what changes apple makes to the darwin they ship as part of osx.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 23:49:00 UTC from Spaz in context
  6. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva afaik apple does not publish the source code of the version of darwin they build for their devices with ARM arch

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 23:44:39 UTC from Spaz in context
  7. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn

@bkuhn freebsd can and has been able to build with llvm-clang for some time. Will be default shortly.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 21:16:07 UTC from twidroid in context
  8. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn

@bkuhn Llvm is fundamentally superior imo and why not go to it if you can?

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 21:14:34 UTC from twidroid in context
  9. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn

@bkuhn projects like freebsd want to leave gcc behind too and are.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 21:08:12 UTC from twidroid in context
  10. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn

@bkuhn they're not avoiding gcc only because of gpl, llvm imho is vastly superior in most ways. I'm sure non gpl is plus for them too?

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 21:05:18 UTC from twidroid in context
  11. eeefak eeefak Bradley M. Kuhn

@bkuhn what? Does it matter what their motive is? We have source code so they can do what they will, no?

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 21:00:10 UTC from twidroid in context
  12. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva do you really think gcc can continue to compete in the long run?

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:48:46 UTC from twidroid in context
  13. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva they don't like gcc. They have their xcode deal and gcc doesn't work with it the way they want, that's why theyre pushing llvm

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:45:07 UTC from twidroid in context
  14. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva yeah that's fine though, they're providing employment to continue an OS project that we can all benefit from.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:43:07 UTC from twidroid in context
  15. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva you're aware that apple is heavily developing them? FreeBSD can & has for a while been able to build completely gcc free :-) #llvm

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:31:50 UTC from twidroid in context
  16. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva whether we would use clang or write our own front end or whatever I think we on the linux side should keep an eye on the projects.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:29:20 UTC from twidroid in context
  17. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva I think it is superior to gcc in many ways, not all. even at this early stage. If there is better tech we should use it imho.

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:27:18 UTC from twidroid in context
  18. eeefak eeefak Alexandre Oliva

@lxoliva you're a compiler guy right? What do you think about llvm-clang, you don't dismiss them because they're "bsd licensed" right?

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 20:18:44 UTC from twidroid in context
  19. eeefak eeefak David "Lefty" Schlesinger

    @lefty :-)

Wednesday, 23-Jun-10 19:56:08 UTC from twidroid in context

@lxoliva binary drivers that execute in the kernel not ok but for peripherals it is?
