@dennisgut !coreboot currently doesn't support !ARM SoCs. But the boot firmware on these boards is usually DAS U-Boot, which is !FS already.

@jxself awesome! Congrats!

I'm jealous, wish I could run Coreboot on my good old desktop. It's the only system I have, though, and I can't afford breaking it. Grats!

@samatjain Things using ath5k & ath9k are good choices, and some ath9k do 802.11a/b/g/n.
-
@jxself I'm a huge fan of atheros, ath5k works out of the box and are a good replacement for madwifi

Got my hands on cheap Thinkpad X60 & will install !coreboot. W/ another daily machine I might be able to work again on RS740 in my desktop.

Seems my Asus P6T Deluxe V2 is ‘known-good’ for coreboot. Great news ! http://s.postblue.info/a-ri8

could the damage of #uefi restricted boot be mitigated by taking out the chip and replacing it w/ #coreboot? could literally save !fs

You don't necessarily have to replace the BIOS chip (though it is safer in case something goes wrong). Just flash it from your system.

AMD is being rather helpful in that regard.
-
Yup, which is why I buy only AMD CPUs and motherboards with AMD sockets and chipsets. ;)

@calminferno Situation is getting better though wrt laptops, !coreboot supports one or two thinkpads these days... !fs

@calminferno Why not both? But barring that I'd say the one you use the most.
-
@calminferno: I'm envious that you have the choice, I'm using Trisquel on a desktop and my laptop is an Ubuntu Dell -_-'
-
@omouse @calminferno Yeah, my only portable option is my #Debian netbook with a not-really-Intel #GMA500 that has no GFX acceleration.

Any recommendations on a microATX motherboard with socket #AMD AM3 that works well with !Coreboot and !GNU / !Linux? To be a server build.

@nmaziashvili Right, good point. Heh, I wish manufacturers would hurry up and sell boards pre-flashed with coreboot. Same time & money, too.

Ordered an ASUS M4A785T-M mobo for my server. Not yet supported by #coreboot, but I may port it next year (should be easy). cc @nmaziashvili

@kete That would be some trouble, wouldn't it? Thanks anyway!
-
@danielmarti free h/w support + customization means low volume, and higher price. That's the high price reason.
