      @dennisgut !coreboot currently doesn't support !ARM SoCs. But the boot firmware on these boards is usually DAS U-Boot, which is !FS already.

      @csolisr @rbrito If you are buying used, be careful with old Thinkpads - they have a lot of almost-but-not-quite-standard IBM chips.

          @samatjain Things using ath5k & ath9k are good choices, and some ath9k do 802.11a/b/g/n.

          @samatjain As @stumbles points out ThinkPads often have anti-feature to make changing WiFi difficult. Reason #2710 why free BIOS important.

              You don't necessarily have to replace the BIOS chip (though it is safer in case something goes wrong). Just flash it from your system.
