IMHO Yes and in many ways RT @silner: Has #Ubuntu One Lost The Personal Cloud Market? http://ping.fm/bcEio !linux #cloud #storage
about 5 days ago from Gwibber-
Yeah, to be honest, I think everyone has lost the cloud battle to !Dropbox, on the desktop/phone at least
-
There's still a lot to play for in the server market, but even Apple has already lost on the Desktop
-
I think I know the reason why: none of the other big players are anywhere near serious about cross platform

@silner I agree. Too bad Ubuntu One isn't it. Sparkleshare isn't as well known either.

@silner Have you heart of #SparkleShare?

@tradem I had hear dof it but never investigated (forgot to) - It looks interesting - certainly cross platform enough :)

When !Owncloud gets !Dropbox-like local sync and real-time collaborative editing, it'll be unstoppable. (I did say "when"). Still compelling

@stevenrosenberg And when providers will have one-click install for it, like e.g. they have now for WordPress.
-
But I'm sure this will be available for !owncloud, which is pretty easy to install (and hence easy to script into one-clickability)
-
Not a fan of one-click installs on shared hosting. It's not as good as Linux package management.

@rajitsingh Could be, but that doesn't explain the continued inclusion of !Dropbox (mixed source, as I understand it)

Opera did a license change, got some unwanted side effects that was later fixed, but many haven't reviewed it again (!operab = my employer)
