@djdexter dwm rocks \o/

-
why does netbeans not work in !dwm?
-
The cal command is actually quite handy, at least for me when living on the CLI using !dwm
-
!dwm window manager is just perfect with the pertag patch

Okay, Arch time now. Any suggestions for new WMs to try out?
-
@kevie Really no more Gentoo for you?
-
@lstench TBH I broke my Gentoo install recently by fiddling some settings and testing an unknown overlay, fixing it may take time
-
@psquid the major attraction of notion to me is that it gets out of your way and lets you get on with what you really want o be doing.

-
Dear !lazyweb - how can I enable middle mouse click emulation in !linux without meddling with xorg.conf ?
-
Damn it, now I want to try a tiling window manager. Any suggestions, identica?
-
@mcnalu recommended tiling window managers: dwm, wmii and WMFS
-
@speeddefrost Hmm, not one of my hobbies. Thanks for the suggestion though.

almost finished setting up multimedia keys for !dwm, will update the !Debian user forums thread if successful ( #archwiki)
about 10 months ago from web-
@patrickniedzielski don't think so. using #keycodes. tried making clean install of config.h but no dice yet !dwm
-
@kete also I can toss you my config.h
-
@tekk Please do, it might do the trick.

!Debian how to customize !dwm http://wiki.debian.org/Dwm | Now I have to unlearn the Alt key ;)
about 10 months ago from web-
@sinisterstuf your meta key and then j or k !dwm #switchingwindows
-
@kete sounds similar to Vi bindings, that's cool!
-
@sinisterstuf Ah, yeah, I didn't think about that, haven't used Vim enough ;) thx
-
-
!dwm think I'll bind Meta-1 to Esc since I use Alt frequently in my browser and text editor.

dmenu (http://tools.suckless.org/dmenu/) is probably the best example of doing the simplest fucking thing that just works. Amazing software.

@reality you mean xmonad as the wm for kde?
-
@mcnalu Yes.
-
@nuclearsandwich ah, but by default does nought - poking around in the code now...
-
Anyone recommend some software to grab a screen shot in a minimal wm such as !dwm ?

@hce new one to me, thanks for the tip

RT @samatjain GNOME developer quote of the day: "…not designing a desktop for people…" http://ur1.ca/4jbqq !Linux
-
@mcnalu I always liked that about kde. On the same token, it drove me nuts! I've found contentment in scrotwm's simplicity as of late.
-
@ghotir what a great name. How is scrotwm pronounced?
-
@mcnalu according to marco (one of the creators) it's pronounced "the welsh way" http://ghotir.us/1b adding to the awesomeness of it :)
-
-
A few days with !dwm and I'm hooked. Incredibly functional in its simplicity. Truly amazing, 'make clean install' in 5 seconds on ultra 60
-
removed push.c from my !dwm. much less distracted with window placement now. I'm becoming more convinced that vanilla dwm is nearly perfect.

"To understand everything else, start reading main()." This comment at the start of !dwm source strikes as good advice about life in general

@mcnalu !dwm is God uses on his machine
-
@erez Hehe. And which OS?
-
@mcnalu I'd think Arch, but he probably compiles his own distro ;)
-
On the train and taking a break from work to read !dwm source code. There's not much of it :)

!archlinux very slow after last update with gnome3 stuff, using openbox and some app using gnome i think, is there a way to downgrade? help
about a year ago from gwibber-
@mcnalu 2203MB is what htop reported as used memory. Didn't think to check the main culprits. Will look again post-class.
-
@nuclearsandwich so includes buffers/cache? Interesting. I couldn't try gnome shell from within qemu, but am still curious.
-
@ttnk http://ur1.ca/42h7q but maybe you will have problems if the configs have been migrated to new formats
