Essentially the LLVM folks found a way to pay developers, and development happens the fastest when you get money and can share.

Since Apple has a strategic interest in beating !GCC, they aren’t likely to start abusing the options they have with LLVM license, *soon*.

Here on my system 55 our of 1272 packages need to have LTO disabled to compile, didn't make any performance tests though
