I can't quite pick IRC back up again. Once upon a time, my favorite client was telnet, so perhaps I make it too difficult. ;)
-
@jasonriedy perhaps. However, bitlbee + irc brings all chat into one. One universal client. I need to learn gnus for all-in-one news
-
@unhammer @jasonriedy I think I'll stay with direct imap access to the mail server from !gnus for the moment.
-
-
Is there such a thing as cli !Google Reader. I think I need the news faster. I'm short of time :)
-
@jasonriedy It was google synching I was especially looking for, so I could move boxes smoothly, but I am looking at a few RSSers
-
@duck1123 .. habits :)

I like clawsmail and alpine. :)
-
Dear Companies, I use a text mailer. If you send me shiny html emails without a multipart/alternative text version, I bin them #kthxbai

All mail readers suck. !gnus just sucks less than most for many purposes.
-
Using !gnus with shr the "simple html renderer": my html mail is suddenly simple and awesome ;)
-
@trashbird1240, is that different than the default HTML renderer that !Gnus uses without any special configuration?

!Gnus connected to localhost's IMAP has gotten incredibly slow for folders over around 500 messages. I need to switch to trunk of !Emacs.

Can !gnus on !emacs "touch" or enter empty groups so that #leafnode will update them? Doing this manually is a PITA :|
-
Finally succeeded to run !mairix in !gnus. Not yet convinced that I do it the right way

passé toute la soirée à essayer d'envoyer un message sur news.free.fr depuis !gnus . pas moyen d'envoyer autrement qu'en utf-8 #fail

@trashbird1240 how did you setup gnus on !emacs ? Do you use imap ?
-
@m3tti Yes, using imap; worked fine on Emacs from !bzr which I could not compile on !crunchbang

-
@fontana freedom to do "evil" orders of magnitude less evil than doing evil with handcuffs? @bkuhn I thought you dropped #evil talk? ;-)
-
@larstiq , I second the choice for gtimelog. How re-usable are your scripts? My php stuff is a mess, so I'm considering some rewriting.
-
@warp there are a couple of assumptions based on my workflow, but cleaning that up shouldn't be too hard I hope.
-
@bkuhn I wrote a C++ app for mine; see "Summary tool" at http://ossguy.com/timediary/ Example: http://ur1.ca/3fy47 Time sorting was helpful.
-
-
With latest !emacs !gnus, I find myself rarely using offlineimap -- nnimap is fast enough talking directly to the remote server now.

LOL! Looks like the Canonical lawyers just woke up.... :D

Anyone know why my !gnus summary buffer shows the wrong info? Only some msgs http://bildr.no/view/775592 (using offlineimap+dovecot)
-
@unhammer ah, due to gmail's buggy imap. Doing (setq gnus-agent nil), or ^Jr on gmail, worked http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/GnusGmail

However, !gnus hanging on STARTTLS for gmane is *not*, I repeat *not*, orgasmic.
-
nnir for !gnus is now orgasmic. http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.emacs.gnus.general/74430

Something really crazy happened yday. When I started #gnus, it cleared the whole spool file. I had #mutt and #fetchmail running then. !emacs

@trashbird1240, years ago (in pre- !Emacs 21 days), I used to run out of CVS trunk. I don't know if I've the fortitude to do similar again.
-
@bkuhn It's remarkably stable: I've had no serious problems; any that I've had are far outweighed by new features (themes) and fixes (!gnus)
-
@trashbird1240,I believe you,but I'm getting old, you see. Idea of running out of trunk/master is now #disturbing to me rather than exciting
