Those who wrongly think my !GPL enforcement is © trolling will be surprised I'm glad about this decision: #Viacom v. #YouTube bit.ly/13l5cz1

If I release a comic book under the !GPL, can I use a font under the #SIL for the text, or do I need an explicit waiver?
- Mike Linksvayer likes this.
-
@pehjota has it right. OFL is written in a way that its basically cc-0 for document embedding.
-
@davelab6 Or, if I paste *and modify* a SIL'd rendered letter into a GPL'd picture, does it count as embedding or as edition?

In !FaiFCast 0x3A, @bkuhn & @kaz listen to & discuss Gabriel Holloway's talk on !GPL & ☁ Terms of Service agreements: http://ur1.ca/d9887

@arnebab on the topic of mercurial, have you been keeping track of the version control discussion on emacs-devel?
- Arne Babenhauserheide repeated this.
-
@tekk I’m not on the list right now… are you? → you’re free to quote me for that.
-
@arnebab I lurk, but given the fact that I've never contributed to any gnu project(tried with gnu fm, copyright assignm…

@tekk me neither: I’m a Hurd contributor, but no big GNU coder. I don’t think that matters when you show good arguments, though.

!faif Still convinced that #cc style readable licenses would be useful for !gpl education. Would cc style simplicity encourage gpl uptake?
-
@csolisr do you know of an English translation? That's pretty much what i was thinking. Wonder why they dropped it.
-
@nickdaly That's a very old version (2004). Later versions did add an English translation, but eventually they fell back to the FSF site.
-
@mray Yeah, and i still find those folks foolish.

Isn't it grand when a violation reporter emails to say !GPL is dead & you & your org is a complete failure b/c one violation was unresolved?

@copyleftnext What is the problem that you are trying to solve with this new license? 2tu.us/6m67
about 2 months ago from Choqok-
@luissoeiro !fsf not interested in revising #GPL at this time, nor do I think they would approve of most of these changes (for GPL).
-
@copyleftnext so it’s essentially just about copyright assignment or license agreements. The stuff you can avoid by not signing those
-
@copyleftnext: #CLN as additional permission to the GPL? “If a © holder releases his code under [bad license], it becomes [punish license]”
