@sredna KOffice 2.3.3 correctly displays black-on-white documents with dark-on-light system colors, which !LibreOffice doesn't do (in !KDE)
-
@rysiek Yeah, same argument for webpages, but shouldn't the editor/browser/whatever deal with dark FG, no BG set more gracefully?
-
@dhraak and how do you suppose they should do that? with all the (visible and invisible) layers, all the styles, etc? :)
-
While !Calligra is already pretty good, it's still not released. You might want to test saving before using it as your production tool.

I always thought that !kde !koffice would be better if they would have binaries for #koffice for windows. the office would get more popular
-
-
@johnnynull Sure, but many people do find the lighter, less featurefull Abiword both easier and adequate. I myself have long used #LaTex.
-
@skreech2 but is calligra a fork? or a name change of KOffice?
-
@rysiek Highly depends on who you speak to but it's a sister codebase to be diplomatic.
-
-
So what is actually the status of !Koffice nowadays? Looks like most of the effort is in Calligra, or is it shared effort?
-
@irinarempt Right, thank you for clarifying. I wonder where it will go. As I said before, I am still getting to grips with 2.x interface.
-
@mjjzf The status is that its getting much more stable and much more modular. KWord in git is usable for my everyday, styles heavy usage
-
@mjjzf I did a presentation in Showcase (former kpresenter) this week and noted down all the problems (UI, etc). Usable and improving :)

Whats a good spreadsheet program to use in !kde ?
-
@panicking5kywalker so far I've only used kspread. I wish it could save in MS formats, or Kword could read .doc formats. Etc.
-
@zaurav It got ugly when I tried to finish an OpenOffice document, and that's when I stopped.
-
@panicking5kywalker Ah. I see. Thats not good if its messing up your docs frm other programs. thanks :)
