I find automatic dependency resolution #disturbing. Wish I had hardware that could do something like !Lunar Linux to select & build myself.
-
@mjjzf Portage. Once I got it installed it didn't change much. Until the day it exploded. :)
-
@mjjzf For performance, just compiling kernel and Glibc for your arch might do it. You can build packages to custom specs on any distro.
-
@gomerx Well, I redo my kernel anyway. Uncluttering it and compiling for processor.

Would anyone be interested in taking over admin'ing the !Lunar group? I don't use Lunar Linux anymore.
-
I would be more concerned about the Yahoo! switch in !Ubuntu IF IT WAS MORE THAN CLICKING ON A BOX TO SWITCH IT BACK!

@flameeyes But there's a limit to what's ethical, and the FSF folks try to spread their view where that limit is - just like everyone else.
-
@arc On licensing with source-based distributions: !LunarLinux has an interesting filtering tool: syntaktisk.dk/grphcs/lunar_c03.png
-
@teddks I can't risk poisoning my mind with #FSF zealotry! I heard some of them aren't even American & GPLv3 requires "death panels"!

Writing a few "FreeBSD 101" blog posts for !Linux users seeing what all the !FreeBSD fuss is about. The post-install config took me a while.
-
@mjjzf: I think more new-from-Linux users might want to get their hands dirty. I'm doing it from my experience, anyway, no avocation to any.
-
@mjjzf: After I've looked at all/most of them and done my research, my advice will then reflect accordingly. :)
-
@seawolf Brilliant. Keep posting it. I have used FreeBSD and OpenBSD quite a bit, but I use Slackware as the main OS, so I like to comment.

I've got that damned recurring temptation to install !LunarLinux. Anticipated process: Installing, enjoying, impatient, annoyed, erase.
