When did Opera browser stop being a "Canonical Partner" and disappear from the repository of that ilk? !ubuntu !operafans
-
@rajitsingh Could be, but that doesn't explain the continued inclusion of !Dropbox (mixed source, as I understand it)
-
Opera did a license change, got some unwanted side effects that was later fixed, but many haven't reviewed it again (!operab = my employer)
-
Thanks for the explanation @velmont

Anyone got some tips on making !operab behave properly with !freenet ? (i.e. so it will load the pages completely without dropping images)
-
@nickko ok I tried just to prove you wrong - Opera doesn't use turbo when opening localhost:8888
-
@cyberkiller is not a real proxy ? you don't add it in opera proxy settings ?
-
@nickko nope - to use freenet you install a "node" and then connect to it from a web browser to localhost

Opera are a rarity. They are a closed source company that takes Linux compatibility very seriously. An enigma? | !operafans
-
They also work on quite a bit of stuff out in the open, just not the browser itself (cf. <https://github.com/operasoftware>).

They are a real puzzle of a company. But I suppose, if you can have evil open-source companies like Oracle, the opposite must also exist
