@fontana Strange, must be a misconfiguration. I mentioned it on the channel, hopefully someone with ops sees it :-)
-
@sazius I for one find it !disturbing. Perhaps @bkuhn is limiting #faif channel membership to the !establishment.
-
@fontana,you & your conspiracy theories! I was using an unconfigured !Emacs ERC & hit C-c TAB which calls erc-invite-only-mode by default.

I see that draft !CC 4.0 licenses explicitly say patent rights aren't licensed. Why is this needed? !puzzled

@fontana known dissenters are welcome.

@fontana why does copyleft-next need "No Trademark License"? 19 words could be saved.

@vanden I don't think it's that bad of an analogy; board can overrule or even depose. Also, citizens/constituency can go extralegal.*

*(not that I encourage. actually, I condemn almost all revolutions. been meaning to explain why on a Jul 4, maybe will make 2013.)

@bkuhn True that. But discussion and conceptualizing could (and arguably should) precede such approval.
-
@fontana IANAL. It looks to me that clauses 5 (must use same licence) and 10 (may some others) of copyleft-next conflict. Am I being dumb?
about 4 months ago from web-
@fontana Thanks. Relevant diffs. This, or its descendants != This or some other things entire. But, GPL text not happy to my eye, either.
-
@vanden could add a "Notwithstanding section 5 of this License" (cf. AGPL section 13) but economizing on words has been a major goal
-
@fontana Laudable goal. But, ought take back seat to consistency. (Actually, an incon text can be quite short as everything then follows ;-)

"Generative Public Library" also a pretty good name, though "generative" has annoyed me for years.
-
@fontana Shouldn't that be "License: Apache License, Version 2.0", "License: Apache Software License", or similar?

@laurelrusswurm The @FSF considers removing the option to choose chains as ethically imperative.
-
@csolisr I don't think I understand what that means.
-
@laurelrusswurm Neither do I, but that's pretty much what the FSF promotes.

#hivemind Intuition check before battle in class tonight: is killing enough for murder or is culpability (legal or moral) required, too?
-
@vanden culpability needed please
-
@reality @1111aether Thanks. Very much my view. !puzzled that overwhelming majority of student last few terms find it counter-intuitive.
-
@1111aether Thanks. I'm teaching moral philosophy, so the legal status is secondary. But, clear that our legal system requires killing+.

@nuclearsandwich `nonbasic' not one of my terms. Google little help. Don't want to burden, but enlightenment always gratefully received.
-
@vanden Basic types are the ones you store in memory. (nibble, byte, word,...) nonbasic are represented by, or composites of, basic types.
-
@vanden There is some finer nuance, but practically, a binary-represented integer value of a certain size is a basic type, all else nonbasic
