Only tool missing on my new !Slackware !Thinkpad is !Inkscape. Building the deps with !Slackbuilds takes a bloody long time, though...

Hard drive upgrade successful! Seagate Momentus 7200.4 (500 GB) works perfectly fine out of the box on my !Thinkpad R61.

@rw I find quite a few very affordable T60s and T61s, and I suspect that is what I'll get. I love the design of the X60, but it's SO small.

@mjjzf Have you any experience with T60s running hot? Are T61s a better bet? Is a T42 too slow for a linux system?

@rw I don't know them. I have used a T40P up until now. With a gig of RAM and a 1.6GHz Pentium M, it will handle everything not source-based

@eightyeight It's a fairly decent distro for what it's worth. First encounter with pacman was a shock though (install is called Sync‽‽‽).

@singpolyma, I'm using a Lenmar PPU916. It has features you mention & is very light, but only gives about 1 hr of power on my !Thinkpad T60.

Due to video card slowly dying on !Thinkpad T43, I have switched to a T60 (w/ #ath5k card which uses !FaiF !Linux firmware). Fast machine!
