Ok, my #KDE install on !FreeBSD doesn't accept my super-key for shortcuts. I think it's time to go back to !wmii. Sorry KDE, I really tried.
-
@navigium and adjust ALT/WIN behaviour .. the best is to set it to Hyper
-
@gustopn thanx for the tip. I thought it was KDE because it works to use it as the wmii mod key. I'll give it a try then :)
-
@navigium i do not know how's on KDE, i did not use it lately, but i know the same problems after going from gnome2 to gnome3shell
-
-
I tried #KDE on my !FreeBSD box. Haven't used it in ages. But coming from !wmii it feels sluggish and slow (on a i7 with 8 Gigs of RAM)
-
My editor layout is burned into my left LCD monitor.
-
Yeah, it's probably less for me.. and my machine is only one year old.
-
Send all unwanted LCD monitors to @jonpro03
-
@jonpro03 You almost got mine, buddy. But I had at it with a hammer. :D http://ur1.ca/8s87p

!Arch Linux wants me to install #gnome shell extensions from a extensions.whatever #wtf - I think I'm done with #gnome3!
-
@johnnynull well, I'm using XFCE and Openbox ATM and just watching the others from a distance.
-
This is my computer not a church tower. So, no, I don't need a big ass clock. (And I don't need bells either - before you ask ;) )
-
-
Cross country skiing and !lo mix well :)
-
*lol* luckily there weren't too many trees around. I listened to ep 248 - which basically is one long rant ;)
-
@navigium Which is the simple gnome menu. Not the long run everything will work on that
-
-
chao #Gnome 3 me aburristeeee!!!
-
People bashing !Ubuntu for unity: What should have they done? Stuck with a deprecated DE? Or moved to !Gnome 3, which is equally criticized?
-
@cyberkiller Oooh! Great idea! :D
-
@rajitsingh My only concern with it is that a DE is a deep undertaking. Doing it without consultation may be more than they can handle
-
@skreech2 I agree. KDE has come such a long way since its 3x days, it'll be quite a task catching up. Honestly, I don't see the point.

Once you try a tiling window manager, you always come back. Back on !xmonad after a short stint checking out kde 4.6.

@qchapter word!
-
I set !wmii's font to xft:Monospace-8 (an alias for DejaVu Sans Mono), and it works, but the character spacing is wrong.

I'm loving #solarized in my !emacs and !wmii themes on !parabola, but need to figure out how to do up a #gtk theme. !gnu !linux
-
I'm starting to like !wmii better than !unity and !gnome Shell because it's lighter than those and it's more minimal. !u

Just messed about with !awesome on my !crunchbang vm, it definitely beats !wmii
-
@mindthegap choice to use mouse, having a menu, quick toggle of floating windows, and tiling layouts. It's just that they suit me better
-
@ajpaulson I see. Might have been that you see some fundamental benefits (things you name work quite well for me in wmii) :-)
-
@mindthegap It's just the implementation and learning curve fit me better. It's all subjective
-
-
just tried !wmii on !crunchbang and it's pretty freakin' good! Got to learn all the commands and theme it so it doesn't stab my eyes tho
-
@ajpaulson fortunately it's pretty easy to theme--hex color codes in wmiirc, plus whatever program you like to set the background
-
@wgreenhouse yeah, I was pretty excited when I found out about the hex code theming. I'm more curious about setting system fonts now. #rtfm

tempted by a tiling window manager on my netbook. recommendations?
-
building !slackware #package for !wmii: found the #plan9port dep, it seems a real #WM.. does somebody know something more about it, please?
-
-
@otakukuma I recomend you dvtm + dtach - screen :D
-
@coredumb I was talking of the bar, for example.. i3status, dzen2..
-
@brainvision These are not dependencies... And dzen2 is already packaged by slackbuild.org
-

-
!wmii has stacked layout, so you one window is open in a column, is this also possible in !dwm ? I guess not :s
