So sad.

Spam is major reason why I don't come here often. Not sure if invite-only system is best solution, but is obvious something needs to be done
-
voted for "Yes"
-
I'd also advocate making "/" be the personal timeline, and something like "/public" be the public timeline. Too much spam in public timeline
-
Nobody asked, but this is how I'd redesign UX of !identi.ca slash !statusnet http://identi.ca/attachment/53830037
-
I think it's better, but not better enough.
-
It still needs quite a bit of work, IMO. I don't fault the folks involved, but I think the changes in 1.0 are too little, too late.
-
@rahulsundaram K, thanks a bunch!
-
@rahulsundaram So, is it possible to add/remove packages with preupgrade? And, why do you say it's a bad idea to add/remove during upgrade?
-
@rahulsundaram If you use preupgrade, system directories are preserved and updated. If you use CD/DVD, system directories are erased. No?
-
@rahulsundaram Thanks. I know I could add/remove packages via a CD/DVD upgrade but that overwrites everything, while preupgrade does not
-
@trashbird1240 Thanks. I figured something like that would be the recommended solution...
-
@rahulsundaram I'm aware that preupgrade is for upgrading. But, I thought it might be possible to add/remove packages during the process
-
!fedora: Is it possible to change the desktop environment via preupgrade? (I've used preupgrade before, but I don't remember...)

@forteller curious what they come up with; always thought it would be great if they launched an autonomous / federated service of some kind
-
@grote practical reason i haven't seen mentioned here: some businesses have restrictive firewalls that don't play nice with webhost webmail
-
@osamak i think it's a fair question. eg, # of developers on google+ probably exceeds # of developers on statusnet + diaspora + gnusocial
