@kete Say you encounter a big somewhere, Usually upstream will ask you to try trunk/master before digging deeper into the issue.

@tshik I came from Gentoo to Arch. That is another reaon why I felt just like home. Didn't have to learn anything I didn't already know :P

@rysiek I'm happy with Arch right now. Its pkgs are just so much simpler to create and alter comapred to .deb's

@eriksteinmann My story is just a hint about priorities. Ubuntu: A subset of pkgs get all attention. Debian: no pkg left behind :P

@kete Arch's Latex packages the best maintaned I've encoutered so far. It has been this way since I'm using it (late 2007)

@kete However, if you're willing to give up on being bleeding edge, then Debian offers a solid distro that doesn't need a lot of attention.

@kete If you know how to build things from by hand and want to love close to upstream, then Arch is _the_ choice. That is why I'm using it

@bulldog98 I see. What I meant with "just" using dolphin in comparison with using PIM, koffice, desktop search, kate/kdevelop etc.

@kete What I'm getting at: Debian is outdated, but things usually work even if you're using esoteric packages.

@kete I i.e. switched away from Ubuntu to Debian because its latex packages were broken for months, nobody cared.

@kete I actually think that debian is better suited than *ubuntu if you're doing something less mainstream, like latex.

Aha, the customisation script just had to be rerun. Now it works with awoken-clear as well

Weirdest thing, I've selected awoken-sky instead of awoken-clear and the issue went away.

What do you mean by that? I'm under the impression that dolphin in pretty light weight and fast.

Here with the kwoken icon set http://bit.ly/y0LQVb . Pretty sweet, but dolphin doesn't pick up the icons. A caching issue? !kde
