old pfsense is off now, new virtual is running perfectly, I'm planning to have it in another VM as active/passive setup

did something crazy and virtualized my main pfsense, ready to turn off the old one, backup the config then restore it in the new one.

upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 without a problem, neat to see an upgrade to work from time to time, had backups just in case.
