Installed Fedora next to my Slackware and am now putting Wheezy on a VM on it. A nice way to spend a Sunday.

Try out NetBSD. Many things have been fixed over time by rooting them with NetBSD.

@metztli Good point. My approach: I dual-boot between Slackware as a main system a 2nd one I use for pulling software in or out for testing.
