  1. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux

I can't update my SAMBA infrastructure to V4 yet. Just made sure I can build my own V3 packages for !Archlinux until I can make the switch.

  2. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users , Heiko

@ostfriese My guess is that it allows Instant Messaging services to discover users on the local network. Might also aid printer discovery.

  3. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow

I am going to miss the microblog nature of identia.ca once it changes to pump.io. Using a web browser to dent will feel uncomfortable to me.

  4. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users

Am I the only one with broken wireless after today's wpa_supplicant update? Thank-the-maker my repeater has a wired port I can use. !fedora

  5. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users , Morten Juhl-Johansen Zölde-Fejér

@mjjzf You'll need to switch repositories at some time. I've also found that Alpha-derived systems never quite match final releases,

  6. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users , desintegr

@desintegr Not sure. The packages moved from -4 to -8 in a short space of time and the changelogs are vague.

  7. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users

Latest !fedora KDE workspaces update fixes the "notifications displayed at top of screen" problem. I was just beginning to get used to them.

  8. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow The FreeBSD Project

Making two different greylisting solutions (sendmail/milter-greylist and postfix/sqlgrey) operate consistently is very interesting. !FreeBSD

  9. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux

Saw a problem with nfsd failing at boot due to hostname resolution fail. Added After= and Requires= on named.service to fix it. !Archlinux

  10. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow The FreeBSD Project

Replaced policyd v1 with sqlgrey on my !FreeBSD server. Trading 1 compiled C package for 6 Perl ones but it seems to be doing the job nicely

@neildarlow OK. It did work after a while. The controls show as unicode placeholder boxes though. Definitely Beta and needs a lot of work.

  12. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow netgeek , Dennis Zeit

@dennisgut Same as @netgeek here with #Firefox 20.0. Don't know if NoScript has anything to do with it not loading properly. No proxy used.

  13. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users , Neil Darlow

@neildarlow OK not !fedora. I was routing through a Wireless Repeater. I needed to clone eth0 MAC address onto wlan0 and now all is working.

  14. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Fedora users

I have some ath9k problem. Not sure if it's related to kernel-3.8.7 or recent NetworkManager update (or both) but I'll keep looking. !fedora

  15. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux , postblue

@postblue Cool. I'm having issues with services run on an interface managed by ifplugd. Services either don't start or come up broken. :S

  16. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux , postblue

@postblue You need to watch out for new combined address/netmask format and some interfaces e.g. tap might require explicit Routes= setting.

  17. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux

!Archlinux Heads-up! samba has transitioned from 3.x to 4.x and 4.x clients won't work against 3.x servers. Beware of this update.

about a month ago from Choqok at Bedford, England, United Kingdom
  18. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux

!Archlinux netctl migration complete. A couple of routes needed to be fixed but otherwise successful. Not quite a netcfg dropin replacement.

  19. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow Arch Linux , Abhinav

@archmonk !Archlinux developers know how to give heart attacks. I have to migrate a dual-homed headless server to netctl. Fingers crossed :)

  20. Neil Darlow Neil Darlow

Wireless upgrade Pt. 2. Getting my Gaming and AV equipment onto 802.11n with a TRENDnet TEW-640MB Wireless Bridge. Less wireless pathways.
