  1. # often hawks "Cheap Adobe Microsoft S0ftware !!11", but today it was "Welcome! - Free Software Foundation". They're upping their game!

  3. @brews AFAIK the default media player doesn't support Vorbis, Theora, or FLAC. And unlike MP3 & AAC, there's no DSP/hardware-acceleration.

  4. @bigbrovar I applaud Nokia for pushing to upstream. I just wish that they hadn't blocked Ogg formats from HTML5...

  5. @windsurfer Oh sure, you can _put_ software on the !n900 to play Ogg, but without DSP support, it takes 2x the battery as MP3.

  6. !n900 is GNU/Linux w/apt, but n900 & HTML5 lack Ogg b/c of Nokia. !Android widespread, but "screwed, hard-coded" & unsupportive of upstream

  8. Hooray for ambiguous wording! I told someone their laundry was done: "Saw the washing machine off in the laundry room a little while ago."

  11. @bigbrovar I heard that the n900 is a sweet phone, but I didn't realize they'd managed to squeeze an optical drive in, too. Outstanding! :-)

  12. @teddks The SDK license: http://developer.android.com/sdk/terms.html Some parts of the SDK are !FS, some aren't. Overall, not Free Software.

  15. I started in Portland, OR today & took an unexpected detour to Portland, ME. If I must be inconvenienced, it's nice when it brings symmetry.

  17. @diablod3 Yes, seems like a big push to not use GPL: # went Apache & there are calls for MySQL to relicense more permissively, etc...

  18. # was excellent! Spoils included a nifty winter hat, a new dress shirt, and lots of tangerines and walnuts (from my stocking).

  19. Honey Bucket ? It's a port-a-potty! Who chose that name -- a 3-month-old baby who ate honey, got botulism, & now has a grudge against honey?

  20. Phew! Holiday card design done! A small idea became a huge project...just like every project. New-years resolution: do smaller projects!
