Flash is not working in Ubuntu. I think it is because I messed with Pulseaudio. Why do I need pulseaudio when I have alsa ?

Why do I need both alsa and pulseaudio ? Ubuntu apps, like Rosegarden, sound terrible...but ok in Debian.

It bounces with "Unknown user. Go to http://identi.ca/settings/im to add your address to your account". When I go there, it doesn't work.
