Okay, that makes sense if they are small. I was thinking it was a koan like "the sound of one hand clapping." :-)

Ahh, rhythm, Whatever sounds best then. The difference in meaning, if any, will be ignored by your enraptured readers.

How does one use a single scissor and what exactly is it?
-
I think I would leave "pair of" out of any of these unless I needed it for clarity. Context is everything.
-
Homemade olive oil mayo is the best!
-
@irinarempt I do think scissors is a special case though since it's not a true plural.
-
@irinarempt Tough to say. I'd always use "sunglasses" - a single word. The only person I know who says "dark glasses" isn't native.
-
@irinarempt "Pair of" is often optional, but I just don't hear it separate.
-
@irinarempt I've never heard a native speaker of English break up "pair of scissors" in a sentence. It seems to function as a single word.
-
@irinarempt I just looked it up online. Still I only first learned about it from reading your posts. You've broadened my horizons.
-
@irinarempt "a small pair of scissors"
