Yay! http://www.google.com/profiles/ryankpaul#buzz First impression: it's pretty cool.
-
@technoviking: I know about the crasher on adding streams, but I've not seen it do that when configuring appearance. What caused that?

-
@jonobacon: I'm glad you like the new Gwibber! Thanks for blogging about it. :-)

Google Buzz API appears to use AtomPub for posting. Problem: there are no good client implementations of AtomPub in Python. This will be fun
-
@sandy: to me, it just looks like FriendFeed.
-
On a positive note, Google has been hiring smart people like @chrismessina who care about fixing social network interop. There is still hope
-
Existing "standards" for social networking interop are a lot more painful than a straight JSON REST API. Don't ask what I think of pshb.
-
I suspect that Google's commitment to using existing open standards for Buzz is probably going to make it harder to implement client support
-
@v0xel: very strange. Flickr's findByUsername API call can't seem to find you. Tbh it looks like a bug in Flickr itself. :-(
-
@v0xel: Flickr support in Gwibber 2.29.1 should be fully functional. Please do report bugs you find in it. Thanks!
-
@ronnypfannschmidt: synchronization, reduces gwibber's memory footprint, increases message retrieval performance, enables other features

Gwibber 2.29.1 has been released: http://is.gd/7Yrtr It's a development version that is suitable for alpha testing.

@mtrausch: yes, that's already fixed in trunk.
-
@mtrausch: yes, I wanted people to use the messaging indicator menu instead. But I might have to bring back the tray icon due to demand.
-
@mtrausch: thanks! It was already reported earlier today. There is already a fix committed in trunk that will roll out to the PPA soon. :-)
-
@ronnypfannschmidt: conversation mode, like the identi.ca context view? I'd like to do that, but there is no API support for it yet.
-
@ronnypfannschmidt: it should show at least 100 messages at all times. Is it showing less? There will eventually be a full history viewer.
