Running ubuntu 9.04. Wanted to install a new app. Needed a library. Can't install the library, the repository is turned off. WTF

Maybe lubuntu. http://ur1.ca/8bus0 but the upgrade issue could still kill it.

Very unhappy with new Ubuntu. Looking for distro that looks like Linux, does not force upgrade all the fricking time. Suggestions?

@silner It's not much better in Linux. My ATI r600 Dell laptop has had it's drivers removed. After a crash, i can't get it running...
