@loug common partitions are: "/boot" (17mb is enough) "/swap" (2Gb swap partition is about normal)

@loug All distros of linux has some 'gpart' type app, just before you install the actual OS. There should be an 'advance' tab somewhere.

@loug If you know how to partition your HD, u could install multiple distros on your laptop, test them all till you're content b4 choosing.
