  1. Xidram Xidram Jesús E. Franco Martínez

@tzk: That sounds like a neat nod to the decentralisation and FOSS approaches Identi.ca (heck, StatusNet in general) takes.

Friday, 26-Mar-10 06:33:00 UTC from Gwibber in context
  2. Xidram Xidram Jesús E. Franco Martínez

@tzk: I like that idea. And you know (!t word reference imminent), on occasion, meerkats diet on "small birds" (according to Wikipedia).

  4. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav This is true. What I was referring to was lobbying for more legislation rather than repealing the legislation already in effect.

  5. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread I think the conflict we're having is use of "choice". I'm using it as the selection. You're using it as the product being selected.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:40:55 UTC from web in context
  6. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread However, if the consumer doesn't mind spending all the extra money and demands highest quality possible, then A is the better buy.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:39:18 UTC from web in context
  7. Xidram Xidram jake todd

    @dread This is not always true. Quality: A = B * 2; B = C * 2; Price: A = B * 5; B = C * 2. The most cost effective buy would be B there.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:38:36 UTC from web in context
  8. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread Intended term of use just another factor in consumer decision. All I'm saying is that these things are far more complex than binary.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:35:55 UTC from web in context
  9. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav Yeah, I don't mind beliefs until govt. is lobbied to point the gun at me. I don't mind being an outcast as long as I can live my life.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:33:31 UTC from web in context
  10. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread I'm just saying that people may reasonably choose cheaper Chinese products because price is a major factor alongside quality.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:26:25 UTC from web in context
  11. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread And on that note, all that matters is the selection; not the object. Suppliers don't make money off objects, but off sales.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:24:41 UTC from web in context
  12. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread Then A would be a better product in your eyes, but B would be the better choice. The choice is the selection; not the object.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:23:29 UTC from web in context
  13. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav That's fine. Believe whatever. Just don't be surprised when people disagree with you and try to clear your faith with reason. :-)

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:18:58 UTC from web in context
  14. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread Yes, but the more profitable is also the better choice. I never said it was based solely on cost. I said cost is a major factor.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:13:41 UTC from web in context
  15. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread "Better" is subjective; "right" is fantasy. Every investment has a cost. There is no inherently right choice; only most profitable.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:10:13 UTC from web in context
  16. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread That's too simple a model. If the buyer doesn't need the highest quality and/or cannot afford it, then price is one main focus.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 23:01:45 UTC from web in context
  17. Xidram Xidram jake todd

@dread Well, that depends on several factors. Lower cost is definitely a huge selling factor.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 22:54:05 UTC from web in context
  18. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav So what? If the competitor offers the same quality at lower cost, then the inventor should invest in innovation or marketing.

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 22:41:49 UTC from web in context
  19. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav If they're supplying the demand and consumers buy their products instead of the Euro/US ones, then what's the problem?

Wednesday, 03-Mar-10 22:38:54 UTC from web in context
  20. Xidram Xidram Stav Prodromou

@stav What protects innovations on patented inventions? Reward comes from supplying demand. Monopoly over an innovation is not progressive.
