@Jan You're kidding, but it's an actual term in use. It's not black, because power is not cut, it's just weak -- voltage drops a bit.

No, all the lines are dimmed to where they're outputing something that makes the room look brown. This is caused by the electrical grid in my immediate area not having quite enough power to function for some reason. A brownout is an almost but not quite blackout.


The sun had already set here anyhow.

In this case, the power was rather quite weak. I'm rarely surprised by how fragile infrastructure winds up being in my local community.
