I love unicode art! Though ascii art has one big advantage over it: I can type out a whole ascii art piece with only using the characters on my western keyboard and not having to "look up" anything.

A problem shared by the native-users of many, many writing systems that don't map onto a trivial, one-key-for-one-grapheme hardware device, though.

Which is not just Han characters, either.

Well, it started out as a comment in which I was going to muse that there may be value in writing a keymapping for ASCII-art-to-Unicode-pseudographics, but then I remembered all the stuff I've been learning about how hard keymappings are for Indic scripts and I just gave up.

BUT, if the CJK community can do it for handheld-sized devices, there's hope for moving beyond ASCII in the graphics-typing realm, too!
